The 2nd National Conference organized by Kachin Political Consultative Team was held in Laiza’s Manau Hall from Nov 8 to Nov 13.

Over 500 representatives from Kachin communities around the world, CSOs, religious organizations and KIO/KIA personnel attended a week-long meeting.

A statement released after the conference said the main topics the conference participants discussed include politics, defense, economics, inter-organizational issues and culture affairs. They have also discussed and come to a decision on “Kachin Land Policy and Natural Resources Policy”.

The statement mentioned that the participants provided inputs regarding challenges and obstacles to current political and peace process, and IDPs issues to the conference organizers.

All participants agreed to join hands with other ethnic nationalities in process for political negotiation, the statement concluded.
