Two Burmese military fighter jets again dropped bombs on KIA positions at Dawi Post and Chyahkya Bum in Danai Township on Jan 31 at 2:13 pm.

Similarly, two fighter jets dropped bombs on Hka Shang and Hka Chyang Hku in Mansi Township in southern Kachin state on the same day at around 3:20 pm.

Battles continue to rage between KIA’s 14th Battalion troops and Burmese army troops at Jam Bu Bum in Danai Township on Jan 31 beginning 7:20 am.

On Jan 30, Burmese army troops launched an attack on KIA’s Dawi post in Chanta Kone in Danai Township at around 9 am. The two sides fought for five hours, reported a KIA frontline source.

On Jan 28, Burmese army troops launched an attack on KIA 14th Battalion’s Samak post and the two sides engaged in a series of battles. On the same day, Burmese army troops fired 10 artillery rounds from Chyasam Hka Bridge on KIA positions. KIA frontline sources said they suspected the artillery shells contained poisonous gas as they suffered nausea and dizziness after inhaling fumes from artillery shells.

In Sumprabum Township, Burmese army troops currently based at Lawt Mai Yang fired several mortar rounds on KIA positions and civilians’ gold mining area on Jan 29. After local villagers and gold miners fled the area, Burmese army troops reportedly set fire gold mining equipment and backhoes.

In Mansi Township, KIA’s 12th Battalion troops and a Burmese army unit fought a battle at a location between Maji Gung and Hka Chyang Hku on Jan 29.

In northern Shan State, KIA’s 8th Battalion troops and a combined force of Burmese army’s 45th LIB and 241st LIB troops battled near Nam Hum village in Kutkai Township on Jan 30 at 1:30 pm.
