Burma Link’s first AOC Leadership Program succesfully completed

Last week, we organized our first AOC Leadership Program on the Thailand-Burma border. AOC stands for Agents of Change: AOCs are empowered leaders who inspire others and effect change in their communities.

Six promising young leaders from Burma took part in the 4-day AOC Leadership Program, aimed at developing essential life and leadership skills like confidence, honesty and courage, responsible citizenship, and the ability to effectively deal with others.

During their Journey toward Empowerment, the participants took an active role in the training, preparing presentations and undertaking numerous activities and challenges. Participants also learned how to put their newly-found skills into practice, learning the basics of interviewing and how to help others have their voices heard.

AOCs are effective leaders and role models who facilitate information exchange and storytelling in their communities and out to local and global audiences. These six AOCs form the first part of Burma Link’s AOC Leadership Network.

We believe that cultivating effective local leadership is the determining factor for positive change. AOC Leadership Network is building Burma’s first and only self-sustaining leadership network model to empower communities and break the silence, through promoting the sharing of information, stories, and life experiences with Burmese communities locally and around the world.
