Statement by Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF) / Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) | July 6, 2015

1. The PSLF/TNLA welcomes the positive discussions held in Chiang Mai between the UPWC, the government representatives, and the SD-Senior Delegation for Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, the group organized and given a mandate by the EAROs’ Lawkhilar Summit.

2. Genuine political dialogues also need to be started according to the frame-work, after signing the entire Nationwide Cease-fire Agreement between all ethnic nationalities’ armed forces and the Myanmar government. It will be the starting point to make changes for stopping the 60-years-long civil war and to get true political reforms.

3. We sympathize deeply on the Ta’ang regional people who are suffering bitterly from the effects of daily battles resulting from the Myanmar government army offensives.

4. According the resolution of the Lawkhilar EAROs’ Summit, if all ethnic nationalities armed forces signed on the NCA agreement, we are ready to sign the agreement at the same time together with other ethnic armed forces.

5. We release this statement to avoid head-on fighting except in defensive matters in order to reach the signing of the nationwide cease-fire agreement, discussions on laying down political framework and beginning political dialogue in conjunction with speedy political reforms.
